Mission: Bringing Apple Vision Pro to Germany.

It seemed like a straightforward plan: Fly to San Francisco on a Thursday, pick up seven Apple Vision Pros at the Apple Store Walnut Creek on Friday, and return by Saturday to land in Hamburg on Sunday evening. Four days of travel, nearly 24 hours of flight time, all in the service of importing new technologies to Germany. Yet what starts simply quickly becomes an epic odyssey, beginning with a strike on Thursday that threatened to complicate everything.

I had to take that specific Thursday flight; Friday was too late, and Wednesday I was still committed to a keynote in Düsseldorf. The ensuing stress and the need to rebook and plan flights in parallel took their toll, but a master plan emerged. Should the strike prevent me from reaching my gate on Thrusday, I would need to enter the airport’s transit area on Wednesday evening. Spending a night at the airport wasn’t new to me – and what worked in my student years should surely be manageable over 40.

The quest for overnight accommodation led me to the MyCloud Hotel in the transit area, near my departure gate. But the hotel was fully booked. Nonetheless, I continued my journey, from a lecture at L’Oreal to a brief visit with my mother in Bad Vilbel, before heading to Frankfurt Airport. Thanks to my friend Robert, I made it to the airport in time, even if there was no time left for my mother’s soup.

Upon arrival at the airport around 8:30pm, I finally got the last available room at the MyCloud Hotel at 11 pm – and while waiting, I met many interesting people. One of these encounters revealed to me the secrets of making a fortune with Amazon Drop-Shipping.

The flight to San Francisco was smooth, and arriving at my apartment in Walnut Creek was a joyful event, as was the reunion with my sister and brother-in-law who picked me up from the Airport. THANKS so much!
The visit to the Apple Store Walnut Creek on Friday to collect the Apple Vision Pros turned out to be a lengthy process, sweetened, however, by the opportunity to try out the devices.

This innovative device blew me away! I’m not typically an Apple enthusiast—I’ve always been more of an Android user and am familiar with the Meta Quest 3. However, what I experienced in those 20 minutes was nothing short of astonishing. The spatial photos and spatial videos are going to be game-changers. Is the Apple Vision Pro expensive? Absolutely, but it reminds me of the time my father invested a significant amount for our memories. Back in 1995, for our grand family vacation in the USA, he purchased a VHS-C camcorder for 1700 Deutsche Marks. Memories might not have a price, but they hold immense value!

The return journey was complicated by news of blockades at Frankfurt Airport and announced strikes. This significantly added to my stress level, as the first customers wanted to have their AVP in hand upon my arrival in Munich at 4 PM and Hamburg at 10 PM on Sunday. To make a long story short… everything worked out, even the customs in Munich and Hamburg were friendly and helpful… even though it was a nightmare to fill out and understand all the paperwork. We had informed ourselves at customs beforehand, and they simply said to come by and pay… not mentioning that it wouldn’t be that straightforward and that there was a lot we could have done in advance. Thankfully, Nick picked me up in Hamburg and helped me with the paperwork, as my brain was no longer at its best after all the stress and time zones. THANK YOU, Nick!

Thanks to my team at FUTURE CANDY, who worked tirelessly on planning and importation, and the support of friends like Nick in Hamburg, it was possible to safely bring the Apple Vision Pros to Germany. I was finally home Monday night at 1am.

This journey was more than an adventure; it was a contribution to innovation capacity and perhaps a spark to ignite a passion for the future. None of this would have been possible without a strong team and good friends. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this vision a reality.

Now that most of the Apple Vision Pros have been shipped, the team in Hamburg is having a great time testing the devices and preparing use cases for our clients. It’s the beginning of something new, a butterfly’s flutter with far-reaching effects. I’m excited to see what comes next.

Ein Schmetterlingsschlag: Meine Technologie-Odyssee von Frankfurt nach San Francisco und zurück

Mission: Sieben Apple Vision Pros nach Deutschland bringen.

Das Ziel war simpel: Am Donnerstag nach San Francisco fliegen, am Freitag im Apple Store Walnut Creek sieben Apple Vision Pros abholen und am Samstag zurückfliegen, um Sonntagabend in Hamburg zu landen. Vier Tage Reise, fast 24 Stunden Flugzeit, um neue Technologien nach Deutschland zu importieren… Aber was einfach klingt, wurde zu einer Odyssee… Angefangen mit einem Streik des Flugsicherheitspersonals am Donnerstag… Ich MUSSTE diesen Flug am Donnerstag nehmen. Freitag wäre zu spät gewesen, und am Mittwoch hatte ich noch einen Vortrag in Düsseldorf.

Viel Stress, Umplanungen und mehrere parallele Flugbuchungen später stand der Masterplan. Sollten mich die Streiks daran hindern, zu meinem Gate zu gelangen, müsste ich bereits am Mittwochabend in den Transitbereich. Als Student verbrachte ich oft Nächte am Flughafen für einen billigen Flug, also warum nicht auch mit Ü40… Schließlich fand ich heraus, dass es ein Hotel im Transitbereich gibt. Doch leider war das Hotel ausgebucht. Nichtsdestotrotz, nach einem Vortrag bei L’Oreal und einem kurzen Besuch bei meiner Mutter in Bad Vilbel, machte ich mich auf zum Flughafen. Ein großes Dankeschön an Robert für den Transport!

Mittwochabend erreichte ich den Transitbereich des Frankfurter Flughafens und nach 2 Stunden warten bekam ich doch noch das letzte Zimmer im myCloud Hotel an Z25 im Terminal 1. Beim warten traf ich dabei auf viele interessante Menschen. Unter anderem lernte ich, wie man mit Amazon Drop-Shipping zu viel Geld verdienen kann.
Das Zimmer war klein, aber ideal für eine kurze Nacht. Der Luxus, morgens aufzustehen und innerhalb von 10 Minuten am Abfluggate zu sein, war unbezahlbar. Der Flug nach San Francisco verlief reibungslos, und es war eine Freude, wieder in meiner Wohnung in Walnut Creek zu sein. Ein besonderer Dank geht an meine Schwester und meinen Schwager, die mich auch vom Flughafen abholten.

Im Apple Store Walnut Creek wurde ich am Freitag um 16 Uhr erwartet, um die sieben Apple Vision Pros abzuholen. Trotz des Kaufs für fast 30.000 USD gab es nicht mal 2 Air Tags für 60USD dazu!
Das Ausprobieren der AVPs war faszinierend. Ich bin zwar kein Apple-Fan und bevorzuge Android, aber die Möglichkeiten der Spatial Photos und Videos haben mich überzeugt. Erinnerungen sind unbezahlbar und tragen einen großen Wert in sich, ähnlich wie der Kauf einer VHS-C Videokamera für unseren Familienurlaub in den USA 1995 für die damalige Unsumme von 1.700 Mark

Die Rückreise war aufgrund von Streiks und Blockaden am Frankfurter Flughafen eine weitere Herausforderung. Mein Stresslevel stieg enorm, da Kunden bereits am Sonntag ihre Geräte erwarteten. Doch mit der Hilfe von Nick, der mich in Hamburg unterstützte, und einem freundlichen Zoll, konnte alles erfolgreich gemeistert werden. Ein riesiges Dankeschön an Nick und alle, die geholfen haben!

Diese Reise war mehr als ein Abenteuer; sie war ein Beitrag zur Innovationsfähigkeit und hat vielleicht die Begeisterung für die Zukunft geweckt. Ein großer Dank geht an mein Team und meine Freunde, die dies möglich gemacht haben. Nun freuen wir uns darauf, die Apple Vision Pros zu testen und unseren Kunden zu präsentieren. Ein Schmetterlingsschlag mit vielleicht weitreichenden Folgen. Ich bin gespannt auf das, was kommt.
